Process of Becoming

This covid-era body of work contains large-scale autobiographical drawings on paper and canvas using graphite, working within a flexible tradition of self-portraiture. My body appears naturalistically, multiplied, and crowded together in claustrophobic solitude. The surfaces of the drawings were physically activated through crumpling, tearing, folding, and other forms of distress before being carefully rendered, allowing patina and damage to remain visible. This destructive beginning followed by meticulous drawing framed the process as a somatic cycle of deconstruction and repair.
